Enhanced Containment
More Servers, with better account distribution.
Our previous hosting environment consisted of dedicated, high-performance hardware, each hosting a large number of accounts per physical server or node.
Now, as part of our expansion and enhancement of our Elastic Cloud infrastructure, we have created a much larger number of “smaller” machines or nodes, each hosting a smaller number of accounts (approximately 50% fewer accounts per node than our previous platform) thereby improving performance, stability, and resiliency.
It is important to note here that a “bigger” server certainly does not equate to higher performance (this is a common misconception). Smaller machines, with less contention/accounts can offer significantly higher performance, but with a number of additional benefits from an administrative perspective.
Now, as part of our expansion and enhancement of our Elastic Cloud infrastructure, we have created a much larger number of “smaller” machines or nodes, each hosting a smaller number of accounts (approximately 50% fewer accounts per node than our previous platform) thereby improving performance, stability, and resiliency.

Speaking of performance, we’ve decided to build our private cloud environment on a large array of pure enterprise-grade NVMe storage, rather than traditional, less efficient SSD drives.
In terms of performance per disk, the difference is phenomenal. This takes our storage performance to a whole new level, with faster sequential read/write speeds and a remarkable improvement in IOPS.
The drives we chose to use for our environment are hot-swappable U2 form factor devices, which can be added or removed from the cluster without service interruption (see more about our “data replication” and clustering below).
We have also introduced triple replication into our infrastructure to improve redundancy and failover. For this task we relied on native tools already present in our virtualization platform, as well as a third copy generated with Acronis Any Data Engine.

How do we protect the stored data?
Your files are protected by a RAID 10 configuration, which can withstand failures on different drives simultaneously; therefore, there is a relatively small chance of losing data. In addition, checksums are used on individual data blocks to detect and correct bit errors.

The new CPUs will introduce a 300% improvement in memory bandwidth, enabling much faster RAM handling overall, along with much higher clock speed per CPU core.

Storage: Very high performance.
Data Replication.
Our new storage solution, which we implemented in May 2023, is not based on a “SAN” type environment, but rather on a high-speed hyperconverged storage cluster between our hypervisor/compute nodes. This allows us to infinitely scale our storage platform as our demand and requirements grow, without disrupting the virtual machines running on the cluster.
Our physical servers are interconnected with dedicated, redundant 80Gbps connectivity links, but are physically isolated from each other within different racks or cabinets within the data center.
This means that in the event of a full rack outage, the virtual machines hosting your websites will immediately fail over to one of the remaining servers/racks without interruption or degradation of service or performance.
